From studio projects on AGU’s campus to international academic and professional experiences, AGU graduates continue to build impactful careers around the world. In this issue, we highlight the journey of Mohit Purshotam, an AGU Architecture graduate whose academic excellence and global outlook reflect the university’s international vision.
Mohit Purshotam is an architect from Tanzania who studied Architecture at Abdullah Gül University between 2018 and 2022, graduating with high honours as the top student of his class. During his undergraduate studies, he completed several design studio projects around Türkiye and an internship in Kayseri, gaining hands-on experience across multiple construction sites. He participated in the Erasmus+ Traineeship Programme in Spain, where he worked on archaeological documentation and architectural design projects.
Mohit is currently completing a Master’s degree in Building Science in Architecture at Middle East Technical University (METU), where he conducts research at the METU Materials Conservation Laboratory, focusing on vernacular architecture and bioclimatic building materials, with particular emphasis on coral stone. He spent a semester at Politecnico di Torino as an Erasmus exchange student. Alongside his academic work, Mohit continues to build on his practical experience through freelance architectural projects in Tanzania, with a strong interest in material performance, heritage, and climate-responsive design.
